Visit the Drôme tourist attractions

You won’t have time to get bored during your stay at Les Bois du Châtelas.

Friendly towns and the most beautiful villages in France

Montélimar, the capital of nougat, smells like the south with its traditional Provençal atmosphere. Walk through the old town and see the castle with your family. Dieulefit is also worth a visit. This town, classified as a tourist destination, is known for its pottery and protected culture and nature.

Then, explore six of the most beautiful villages in France in the Drôme: Châtillon-en-Diois, Montbrun-les-Bains, Mirmande, La Garde-Adhémar, Le Poët-Laval and Grignan. The villages perched on hillsides throughout the department are incredibly beautiful.

Culture everywhere

Beautiful cultural sites are scattered throughout the department. The Grignan renaissance castle, Suze-la-Rousse castle, home to the university, and Montélimar castle, which dates from the 12th century, are all places not to be missed when you stay at our campsite. Also don’t miss the unique Palais du facteur Cheval, located nearby in Hauterives.

Stimulate your nostrils and taste buds

Plan your own traditional Drôme menu, paired with delicious local wines, to be enjoyed in moderation of course. Start with some succulent lamb from the Hauts du Diois, then continue with an excellent AOP or IGP goat’s or cow’s cheese (Saint-Marcellin IGP, Picodon AOP, and more) and finish with a Pogne de Romans, a soft cheese in the shape of a crown. Let yourself be tempted by one last little treat: Montélimar nougat!

Activities for everyone in the country

There is something for all ages among the variety of activities available in the Drôme. Enjoy your favorite activities in the middle of nature, surrounded by breathtaking views. For example, as you hike through the Omblèze Gorges in the Vercors Regional Natural Park, you will be immersed in an exotic, tropical atmosphere. Rock climbers can climb the limestone cliffs or go to the Archiane cirque, gateway to the Vercors high plateaus.

The Drôme River and lakes are perfect for water sports fans (swimming, canoeing, fishing, etc.). If you’re more comfortable in the air, head to the Séderon air field and admire the lavender fields under your feet as you paraglide. Finally, fans of via ferrata will find something for them in Buis-les-Baronnies. The Saint-Julien via ferrata is one of the longest in Europe, spanning 1700 meters.
